comprehensive support and advocacy for domestic violence survivors navigating the legal system
Guiding Victims Through The Court System For Justice
At I Am A Safe Place, we understand that navigating the legal system can be a daunting experience for survivors of domestic violence, intimate partner violence, and teen dating violence. Our Healing & Justice Survivor Empowerment Court Program is dedicated to providing comprehensive support to empower survivors throughout the legal process, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are upheld.
Program Highlights
Legal Advocacy: Our trained advocates accompany survivors to court proceedings, law enforcement interviews, and meetings with prosecutors, offering emotional support and ensuring that survivors are informed and prepared at every step.
Trauma-Informed Care: Recognizing the profound impact of trauma, our program integrates trauma-informed practices to ensure that all interactions are sensitive to the needs of survivors, promoting safety, trust, and empowerment
Individualized Coaching: Our team offers one-on-one coaching sessions to develop personalized action plans tailored to each participant’s unique circumstances and goals.
Why Economic Self-Sufficiency Matters
Economic abuse is a common tactic used by abusers to exert control, often leaving survivors without access to financial resources. By focusing on economic empowerment, we aim to break this cycle of dependence. Financial stability enables survivors to make autonomous decisions, secure safe housing, and provide for themselves and their families without fear.
What Is Domestic Violence
Designed to provide comprehensive support and advocacy for domestic violence survivors navigating the legal system. Our program aims to empower survivors by offering therapeutic interventions, court advocacy, and personalized safety planning, ensuring that survivors feel supported and informed throughout their journey to healing and justice. Survivor-centered approach ensuring survivors are at the center of all decisions and processes. We recognize that each survivor’s experience is unique, and we are committed to providing individualized support that respects their autonomy and choices. In addition to court advocacy, we offer emotional support, resource connection, safety planning, work shops and support groups, and community collaboration. We aim to create a pathway for survivors to heal, regain control of their lives, and pursue justice in a safe and supportive environment.

Despite the issuance of protective orders, nearly 40% of victims report continued abuse, indicating challenges with enforcement
